Effective Aug. 1, 2026, the Jean Nidetch Care Center expanded its mission to serve as a comprehensive support hub for the entire university community. This initiative brings the UNLV Support Team (UST) and the current Care Center services, that includes Confidential Advocacy Program, together under the Care Center’s administration.

Both the Care Center and the UNLV Support Team have very strong and successful programs; by centralizing these services, we more effectively pool our resources, which will make it easier to pursue additional resources as a united department. 

If you are looking for support: The Care Center remains your primary resource. You will still have access to the same specialized, confidential advocacy services for power-based violence, alongside expanded case management support for general student distress.

If you are referring a student: The referral process will be streamlined to ensure students are connected with the right resources immediately, regardless of the nature of the distress. 

• To refer a student in distress to the UNLV Support Team, complete a referral using the online form available on our website.
• To refer a student experiencing power-based violence directly to our confidential advocacy program, complete a referral using the online form available on our website.

While these programs will now operate within the same department, the Confidential Advocacy program will maintain its unwavering commitment to confidentiality. All staff are being cross-trained to provide the best possible support, ensuring that when you reach out, you are met with expertise and compassion.
