For January 2024, the UNLV offices of educational compliance and accessibility resources recognize a three-member team from the UNLV Office of Information Technology as our Rebel Accessibility Heroes.
In Spring 2021, Jodi Pascua (IT Procurement Coordinator) and Luis Pierrott (senior manager of IT Operations Support) joined September 2023 Rebel Accessibility Hero Terri Thompson in weekly meetings with the Office of Accessibility Resources to strategically address the ongoing vetting and approving tech purchases across the UNLV Office of Information Technology. Darcey Blaine-Labuguen (associate IT Procurement Coordinator) joined the group a few months later. The core group's weekly hands-on involvement has provided insight and clarifications to the various processes that are OAR's mandate. Pierrott, Blaine-Labuguen, and Pascua work daily to ensure equal access for faculty and students campus-wide by ensuring that university-supported software is accessible. This most-valuable of partnerships ensures that tech procurement approvals for OIT, its campus partners and beyond are completed with the latest information and guidance available.
