Don Johnson has been appointed executive director of Facilities Management, effective Oct. 1.
In this role, Johnson will provide strategic leadership across multiple facilities and operational units at both the Maryland and Shadow Lane campuses. He will lead Facilities Management in addressing critical priorities, including capital planning, reducing deferred maintenance, cost containment, energy and sustainability goals, and operational excellence.
Johnson joined UNLV in 2019 and has advanced through leadership roles with increasing responsibility, including assistant director of Student Life Maintenance and assistant director and interim executive director of Facilities Management. Before joining UNLV, Johnson built a strong foundation in construction, maintenance and sustainability across the public and private sectors. His professional experience includes service in the U.S. Air Force focused on construction, leadership in sustainability at MGM Resorts International, and oversight of maintenance and construction operations at the Luxor Hotel.
Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in city and regional planning from Florida Atlantic University and a master’s degree in historic preservation planning from Cornell University.
