On May 20, we will be upgrading the server that manages Microsoft Windows licenses for campus-owned devices.
What you need to do:
Windows computers validate the Windows license every 180 days.
- As long as you visit campus regularly, your computer will automatically find the new server. No action is needed.
- If you are using a university laptop off-campus, please connect to the university VPN for at least one hour during the week of May 18 to allow your license to refresh. This can be done before or after May 20.
- If you do see a "Windows is not activated" or "Office license issue" pop-up after May 20, please connect to the campus network (wired or wireless) or the VPN, then restart your machine. If the message persists, please contact the IT Help Desk.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to keep our campus technology up to date, reliable, and secure. Please contact the IT Help Desk if you need any assistance.
