Student Diversity and Social Justice (Student Affairs) was awarded a Bronze Community Engagement Certificate for Organizations at the second annual UNLV Impact Awards, hosted by the office of service learning and leadership. Johann Heske (Theatre), a UNLV senior and former campus recreation lifeguard, recently used his UNLV lifeguard training to help save a life while on a plane. While on a flight from Germany to Las Vegas, a passenger had been drinking, and could not be awakened. Heske, seated two rows back, jumped up and offered help. Romeo Jackson (Student Diversity and Social Justice), published a book chapter in the second edition of Intersectionality & Higher Education: Research, Theory, & Praxis. The chapter is titled "Thinking Theoretically with and beyond #Intersectionality: Frameworks to Center Queer and Trans People of Color Experiences!"
