Tarryn E. McGhie (Office of Online Education), Rebekah Piper (Texas A&M-San Antonio), and Myah Stanford (Winthrop University) presented their research "Multicultural Content, Pedagogy, and Dialogue: Preparing Teachers to Shape the Future of Literacy Education" at the National Council for Teachers of English annual convention in Houston. This work identified the importance of dialogue between children, families, and teachers around race and identity. Outcomes showed positive affirmations around race and ability can enhance literacy engagement in K-12 students.
