The Student Health Center/Faculty and Staff Treatment (FAST) Center Laboratory recently completed a comprehensive external review, with no deficiencies identified by three independent evaluating agencies. Over the past six months, the laboratory underwent on-site surveys conducted by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation (COLA), and the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) program.
In addition, COLA has recognized the laboratory with its 10th COLA Laboratory Excellence Award, acknowledging the laboratory’s sustained commitment to quality over an extended period. COLA grants accreditation to laboratories that apply the highest standards of quality in daily operations, demonstrate strict accuracy in proficiency testing, and complete a rigorous onsite laboratory survey. The award highlights the laboratory staff’s dedication to accurate testing, thorough documentation, and consistent quality practices. The Student Health Center Laboratory has maintained accreditation for 33 years.
The laboratory provides testing services that support the health and well-being of the entire UNLV community. Its accreditation and award status assure students, faculty, and staff of the quality, accuracy and reliability of laboratory services and lab test results offered by the Student Health Center/FAST Center laboratory team.
