Drs. Paige Harry, Ian Isby, and Ross P. Berkeley, along with Aaron Johnson and Matthew Earle, both 2021 emergency medicine residency graduates, recently presented their research poster, "Analysis of Fatalities at Lake Mead National Recreation Area," at the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) Scientific Assembly in San Diego. In an effort to reduce mortality within the popular National Recreation Area, which consistently has the highest number of annual deaths of all 423 sites within the National Park System, the study analyzed 131 fatalities from 2015-20 and utilized geomapping to identify patterns involving location, timing, and etiology that may inform future strategies for optimizing EMS resource deployment and response to medical emergencies. The abstract was published in the journal Prehospital Emergency Care, and a manuscript is in progress. Harry and Isby are current emergency medicine residents
