Micah Char, with coauthors Brady Williams, Bella Chung, Baylor Akhavan-Mora, and Jennifer Panczyszyn (all Medicine students) helped advance state public health advocacy at the 2025 Nevada State Medical Association (NSMA) Annual House of Delegates with the adoption of Resolution 4, Oppose the Reintroduction of Nuclear Weapons Testing at the Nevada National Security Site.

The policy highlights the enduring public health and environmental harms of prior nuclear testing in Nevada, including groundwater contamination and increased cancer risk among downwind communities, with disproportionate impacts on Indigenous and rural populations. It formally opposes the resumption of nuclear weapons testing and supports continued compensation, healthcare access, and funding for health surveillance, groundwater monitoring, and cancer screening in historically impacted regions, emphasizing environmental justice and precautionary public health.
