Forth year student Gemma Lagasca (Medicine) will work with the Las Vegas Raiders, performing a one-month clinical rotation focused on primary care sports medicine. For the second year in a row, the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine is participating in the NFL's Diversity in Sports Medicine Pipeline initiative. These rotations provide students with the opportunity to learn and work directly with club medical staff as they deliver care to players across the league. The program aims to increase and diversify the pipeline of students interested in pursuing careers in sports medicine and, over time, help diversify NFL club medical staffs. 

"As a first-generation Filipino American woman, I never thought I would see myself in the NFL," Lagasca says. "I recognize this unique opportunity to provide representation and to work with athletes at the highest level. I’m excited to learn from each elite multidisciplinary medical team member and gain valuable hands-on experience. I hope that athletes, patients, and young aspiring physicians can see themselves in me and believe they can have a place at the highest level.”
