Drs. Elissa Palmer and Dr. James Alexander (both Medicine) worked together to obtain a $2.9 million Health Resources and Services Administration training grant for UNLV Medicine's department of family medicine. The grant will be used to enhance family medicine education in maternity care and obstetrics training for resident physicians in Las Vegas and rural Nevada. The first year of the award is for $598,949 and the total over five years is nearly $3 million.
