Alanna Bitzel (Writing Center) co-delivered two presentations at the 2025 National Academic Advisors Association (NACADA) Annual Conference, held last week at Caesars Palace. Her sessions, "Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose: Holistic Student Support Lessons from Friday Night Lights" and "Bet on Yourself: Strategies for Self-Advocacy," respectively highlighted strategies academic advisors can use to support student-athletes and to promote their own professional development and advancement. A former long-time academic advisor, Bitzel holds several leadership positions in NACADA, including Chair of the Advising Student Athletes Community and Region 9 Professional Development Chair. Bitzel is also a member of the organization's Publications Advisory Board and Sustainable Leadership Committee, and she served on the Planning Committee that organized this year's Annual Conference in Las Vegas, working alongside UNLV campus advising colleagues.
