About Dr. Robert E. Lang

Dr. Robert E. Lang, who passed in June 2021, was the founding executive director of The Lincy Institute and Brookings Mountain West, the inaugural Lincy Endowed Chair in Urban Affairs, professor emeritus for the School of Public Policy & Leadership at UNLV, and Resident Senior Fellow in the Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program. Dr. Lang served UNLV, Southern Nevada, and the State of Nevada with distinction and dedication.

Funded by generous gifts to the UNLV Foundation, the Robert E. Lang Memorial Fellowship recognizes Dr. Lang’s immeasurable contributions and ensures that his legacy lives through the teaching and research of future UNLV public policy scholars.

This past week, Rob Lang passed away far too early, after a lengthy battle with an illness that kept sapping his strength but never his determination and his will — right to the end.

The valley is mourning the loss of a man who contributed to the economic development of Las Vegas in more ways than one.
