Information regarding a student's disability provided to the Disability Resource Center (DRC) is considered confidential and cannot be released to individuals or agencies outside the university without a student’s signed consent. Disability Records are covered under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Requests to release disability information must be in writing. The DRC release form below is available for student requests.

Under FERPA, information regarding a student’s disability can be legally subpoenaed, it can also be released to UNLV administration if there is a threat to self or others, or if there is a legitimate educational need to know.

Personally identifiable disability documentation is maintained by the DRC and kept separate from the student’s other academic records. Upon graduating or leaving UNLV, disability documentation is maintained for a period of seven years and then destroyed.

Fill out this form to give us permission to release your information for specific purposes.
