Burkhart Dental Supply generously donated $5,000 to support the community outreach efforts at the UNLV School of Dental Medicine. The donated funds were used to help expand the Seal Nevada South Program (SNS) in 2014. The SNS Program was started to help address the preventive oral health care needs of elementary school children in Title 1 schools in the Clark County School District.

Many of the children seen through the SNS Program have never seen a dentist before due to a lack of healthcare coverage or a means to pay for services elsewhere. The SNS Program provides basic oral hygiene instruction as well as preventive services such as screenings, sealants and fluoride varnish applications. Following treatment, teachers are asked to complete a survey regarding their pupils to identify the links between oral health hygiene, nutrition and school performance.

Through the support of Burkhart Dental, 145 children were provided with $12,793 worth of free care through the SNS Program and were referred to the dental school for follow-up care. Without the generosity of Burkhart Dental, many of the children treated would not have received any dental care.

It is through support from donors like, Burkhart Dental, that we are able to make a difference in the lives of those in need in our community. We are truly grateful for their support in expanding our services to more children in need in Clark County.
