Accounting Organizations

Getting involved in student and professional organizations is an excellent way of beginning to learn about different accounting careers, learning about job opportunities, building a professional network, and keeping up on current developments in accounting. Many professional organizations offer free or greatly reduced membership fees and access to local chapter meetings. Consider joining one or more of the following organizations to jump start your accounting career.

Beta Alpha Psi

Student Dues Vary by status (new or returning). Information available at the beginning of each semester

Beta Alpha Psi is an international honorary organization that enhances the university educational experience by providing interaction with accounting, finance, and information systems professionals, conducting technical and personal development programs through campus, regional and national meetings, and promoting and encouraging community service. Beta Alpha Psi is a co-curricular experience with an established set of activity and program guidelines that if fulfilled bring great value to student candidates and members.

The American Institute of CPAs is the world’s largest member association representing the accounting profession, with more than 400,000 members in 145 countries, and a history of serving the public interest since 1887. AICPA members represent many areas of practice, including business and industry, public practice, government, education and consulting.

The AICPA sets ethical standards for the profession and U.S. auditing standards for private companies, nonprofit organizations, federal, state and local governments. It develops and grades the Uniform CPA Examination and offers specialty credentials for CPAs.
