How do I change my voicemail password?

Changing the voicemail password if you are locked out of your voice mailbox requires a work order request, or you can call Telecommunications at 702-895-1800 option 0. There is no cost for this service although an account number is required to process the request.

How do I get my voicemail from off-campus?

Nortel/Avaya customers using Callpilot

  1. Dial 702-895-4900.
  2. Enter the extension followed by #.
  3. Enter the password followed by #.
  4. The automated attendant will guide the caller through the procedure to listen to messages or change settings.

Cisco customers using Unity Connections

  1. Dial 702-774-4900.
  2. Press the * key to access the login prompt.
  3. Enter the extension followed by #.
  4. Enter the mailbox pin followed by #.
  5. The automated attendant will guide the caller through the procedure to listen to messages or change settings.
How do I change the name on my phone?

The name change requires a work order request.

Why can’t I forward my phone line off-campus or to my cell phone?

Forwarding phone extensions off campus is a feature that must be activated on your phone and requires a work order request.

How do I make long-distance or international calls?

Domestic: 8+1+Area Code+Number
Ex: 8 (to get off campus) 1-702-555-1212

International: 8+011+Country Code+City Code+Number
Ex: 8 (to get off campus) 011-24-702-555-1212

Directory Assistance*: 8+702+555+1212
Example: 8 (to get off campus) 702-555-1212
*If you dial a “1” before the area code you will be charged for a long distance call.

How do I transfer a call?

Both Nortel and Cisco phones have a transfer key (button).

  • While on an active call press the Transfer key
  • Dial the number to which you are transferring the call
  • When you hear ringing, press Transfer again, OR when the party answers, announce the call and press Transfer
  • Hang up to end your participation in the call

If activation is needed, a work order request must be submitted.

Do I have conference capabilities?

Yes, all phones have Conference Call capability.

Ad Hoc:

  • Press Conference
  • Dial the second party’s number (Remember to dial 8 for outside calls)
  • Press Conference again to add the next party, then press connect to complete etc. (You may conference up to 6 people including yourself.)

Conference Bridge:

  • The conference bridge is a designated phone number configured to connect multiple telephone calls into one. The conference bridge is not available at this time.
What kind of phones does Telecom have and how do I use them?

Telecom has two types of phones, Nortel and Cisco.

How do I use the UNLV address book?
  1. Press the Directories button.
  2. Use the Scroll key to select UNLV Employee Directory.
  3. Use the Scroll key to select the search option: Last Name, First Name, Extension.
  4. Use the numbers corresponding to the letters on the dial pad to enter a name or number to find it in the directory.
  5. Press the Search soft key to search for the listing.
  6. Press the Dial soft key to speed dial a number from the UNLV Address Book.

How do I navigate through voice mail?

Use the following keys to manage your messages and to control playback.

While listening to a message:
1 = Restart Message
2 = Save
3 = Delete
4 = Slow Down
5 = Change Volume
6 = Speed up
7 = Rewind, Small
8 = Pause or Resume
9 = Fast-forward to end

After listening to a message:
1 = Replay Message
2 = Save
3 = Delete
4 = Reply
5 = Forward Message
6 = Save as Unheard
7 = Rewind, Small
9 = Play Message Summary
