How do I change the name on my phone?

The name change requires a work order request.

What do I pay for phones and services?

Charges for monthly service, materials, and labor are listed in the Prices & Rates Table.

Why do I pay for phone service each month?

Telephone service is not centrally funded by the university. Telecommunications is a service center that’s funded by a self supporting budget. Each project, program, department, or school is charged for the services received.

Why is there a charge to cancel an extension?

Labor is not subsidized by central funding or monthly recurring service charges. You are charged for the work requested.

Is a university desk phone required?

No, Telecommunications does not require an employee to use a desk phone. A softphone is an alternative to a physical desk phone. 

Am I required to use a university phone number?

It’s a good idea to use university equipment, phone numbers, and systems for university business. Personal phones used for work or university business may contain records that become discoverable under the Freedom of Information Act. An employee may work in a school or department that requires the use of a university phone. Speak to your supervisor for more information.

Self Service

Is there a self-service option?

Yes. Use your ACE ID to log into the LineOne website to view and modify select settings on your phone.

I don't see my phone listed in the self-service website.

Submit a work order request to report a problem with the self service feature. Provide your ace id, phone mac address, and directory number.

Voicemail

How do I change my voicemail password?

There are several methods to change a voicemail password. Changing the voicemail password if you are locked out of your voice mailbox requires a work order request.  There is no cost for this service although an account number is required to process a work order request.

  1. Log into self-service website.
  2. Call Telecommunications at 702-895-1800, option zero.
  3. Submit a work order request.
How do I get my voicemail from off-campus?
  1. Dial 702-774-4900.
  2. Press the * key to access the login prompt.
  3. Enter the five digit directory number followed by #.
  4. Enter the mailbox pin followed by #.
  5. The automated attendant will guide the caller to listen to messages or change settings.
How do I navigate through voice mail?

Use the following keys to manage your messages and to control playback.

While Listening to a Message

  • 1 = Restart Message
  • 2 = Save
  • 3 = Delete
  • 4 = Slow Down
  • 5 = Change Volume
  • 6 = Speed up
  • 7 = Rewind, Small
  • 8 = Pause or Resume
  • 9 = Fast-forward to end

After Listening to a Message

  • 1 = Replay Message
  • 2 = Save
  • 3 = Delete
  • 4 = Reply
  • 5 = Forward Message
  • 6 = Save as Unheard

Is there another way to check voicemail?

Yes. Voice messages can be delivered to your university email address.

Submit a work order request to enable either:

  • Enhanced Voicemail (voicemail to email transcription)
  • Or voicemail to email (as an audio attachment only)

Another choice for customers that do not share a mailbox is to enable the Cisco Jabber softphone feature. Voice messages are displayed in the app.

Calling Capabilities

How do I make calls?

The university does not use a dialing prefix. Dial the number you want to reach.

  • Internal: Five-digit directory number
  • Local: Ten-digit phone number
  • Domestic: 1+Area Code+Number
  • International: 011+Country Code+City Code+Number
  • Directory Assistance*: 702+555+1212

*If you dial a “1” before the area code, you will be charged for a long distance call.

How do I transfer a call?
  1. While on active call, press the Transfer key.
  2. Dial the number to which you are transferring the call.
  3. When you hear ringing, press Transfer again, or when the party answers, announce the call and press Transfer.
  4. Hang up to end your participation in the call.
How do I transfer a caller directly to voicemail?
  1. Press the Transfer soft key.
  2. Press * key on the dial pad.
  3. Enter the five digit directory number followed by the # key.
  4. Press the Transfer soft key immediately to complete the transfer.
How do I start or stop forwarding calls to my phone?
  • At the Phone:
    1. Press the CfwdAll soft key on the phone.
    2. Dial the destination phone number.
    3. Forwarding is enabled until it is canceled.
      1. Press the CfwdAll soft key on the phone to cancel forwarding.
  • Submit a work order request.
  • Log into the self-service website.
Why can’t I forward my phone line off-campus or to my cell phone?

The feature may not enabled on your directory number. Submit a work order request to enable the local or long-distance forwarding feature.

Conferencing

Do I have conference capabilities?

Yes, the university offers web, telephone, and ad hoc conference capabilities.

How do I host or attend a Conference Now telephone conference?

Fax

How do I send and receive a fax?

Submit a work order request to be added to a fax group.

How do I access the fax website?

Use your ACE ID to log into the eFax website from on-campus or VPN.

SMS

Can I send an SMS text message from my university directory number?

Yes. Learn more about the Jabber SMS Texting service or submit a work order request to request the Jabber SMS feature.

How do I use the UNLV address book?
  1. Press the Directories button.
  2. Use the Scroll key to select UNLV Employee Directory.
  3. Use the Scroll key to select the search option: Last Name, First Name, Extension.
  4. Use the numbers corresponding to the letters on the dial pad to enter a name or number to find it in the directory.
  5. Press the Search soft key to search for the listing.
  6. Press the Dial soft key to speed dial a number from the UNLV Address Book.
