About Universal Design

The Student Involvement & Activities office plans campuswide events with accessibility and inclusion as a priority. Our goal is to ensure that everyone can participate in and enjoy our events, regardless of ability. All events are designed using universal design principles and aim to meet or exceed ADA accessibility standards. We provide clear information about accessibility features to help attendees plan their visit. If you need accommodation or have accessibility questions, please contact the Student Involvement & Activities office at 702-895-5631 at least five business days before the event.

Accessibility and Universal Design Features Available at All Events

Unless otherwise noted, Rebel Events Board programs include the following features:

  • Compliance with state and federal ADA regulations and fire code
  • An accessibility contact listed on event marketing materials
  • Free admission for caregivers or accessibility assistants, regardless of enrollment status
  • Event layouts designed using universal design principles
  • T-shirt sizes from Small to 3XL (if available, while supplies last)
  • Vegetarian and gluten-free food options (while supplies last)
  • Advance announcements for fireworks or loud/amplified sounds via email or on social media accounts (@rebunlv)

Additional Accessibility Features

Premier UNLV

Premier UNLV offers additional support, including:

  • Accessibility grass mats to assist wheelchair users on grass surfaces
  • Dedicated accessibility assistants (UNLV staff) to help with:
    • Navigating the event space
    • Picking up food or giveaway items
  • On-stage American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters
  • ADA-compliant portable restrooms
  • Accessible seating, including low tables and chairs
  • Coordination with UNLV Grounds and Campus Recreational Services to reduce barriers such as rocks, gravel, or tall grass

Homecoming Festival

The Homecoming Festival offers additional support, including:

  • A designated, accessible parade viewing area
  • Wheelchair-accessible lines with stanchions
  • Accessible seating, including low tables and chairs
