In the event of a fire impairment to any building within the University, it is mandatory to promptly notify the Fire and Life Safety department, adhering to the guidelines specified in NFPA 25, Chapter 15 regarding the Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems. This includes the immediate reporting of any impairments or malfunctions that could affect the operational readiness of water-based fire protection systems.

Furthermore, compliance with NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm Code, Chapter 10, Section 10.20, is required to ensure that all fire alarm systems are maintained in optimal condition, with any impairments swiftly communicated to the responsible authorities.

Additionally, under the International Fire Code (IFC) 2018 edition, Section 901.7, it is imperative to report any interruption of service that affects fire protection systems, ensuring that all necessary permits for impairment work are secured and that the Fire and Life Safety department is informed of both the start and completion of repair activities. Adherence to these codes is critical for maintaining the safety and integrity of the University's fire prevention and response capabilities.

The the Fire Impairment Notification System has been developed to help:
