Risk Management & Safety maintains chemical inventory information across UNLV to help support safe handling, storage, and management of hazardous chemicals on campus. Accurate inventory information also provides important information for emergency response, regulatory requirements, and other safety-related activities.
Chemical Inventory
RMS conducts an annual chemical inventory to help ensure that chemical information in CHIMERA remains accurate and up to date. During the inventory process, the Chemical Inventory team reviews chemical products in each area.
Inventory notifications are typically sent approximately one month in advance. Inventory activities can also be coordinated with laboratory personnel, upon request, to minimize disruption to ongoing work. To be added to the notification list for a building, please contact our team.
Receiving of Chemicals on Campus
RMS works with Shipping & Receiving to inventory newly received chemicals in order to add them to active inventory as soon as possible. This process helps ensure that chemical inventory information remains current and that Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for newly received chemicals are available through CHIMERA in a timely manner.
Chemicals received through Shipping & Receiving are processed without unnecessary delays.
