Overview

The Strategic Leadership Training Series consists of online professional development workshops for leaders at UNLV to expand their awareness of best practices across higher education. These informative and interactive workshops cover a wide range of topical issues, including student success, diversity and inclusion, and resource allocation.

Schedule

The Strategic Leadership Training Series workshops are held on Tuesdays at 1 pm. The schedule and topics for Spring 2022 are below.

SESSION 1: CHANGE MANAGEMENT

Tues., March 8, at 1–2:30 p.m.

  • The importance of change management in the higher education context
  • Developing a coordinated strategy to achieve institutional goals
  • A framework for leading change initiatives on campus
  • Higher education change management scenario exercise

SESSION 2: EVALUATING PROGRAM EFFECTIVENESS

Tues., April 26, at 1–2:30 p.m.

  • Benefits of an annual program planning process
  • Principles for effective program review
  • Embedding an “innovation track” in program planning
  • Launching programs for principled growth

SESSION 3: HIGHER EDUCATION’S DEIJ MOMENT

Tues., May 3, at 1–2:30 p.m.

  • Moving from rhetoric and aspiration to action and accountability
  • Understanding systemic racism
  • Why institutions’ efforts to address racism often fail
  • Resources to initiate a DEIJ planning process

SESSION 4: BEST BETS FOR EXPANDING ENROLLMENT

Tues., June 7, 1–2:30 p.m.
