The Strategic Leadership Training Series consists of online professional development workshops for leaders at UNLV to expand their awareness of best practices across higher education. These informative and interactive workshops cover a wide range of topical issues, including student success, diversity and inclusion, and resource allocation.


The Strategic Leadership Training Series workshops are held on Mondays at 10 a.m. The schedule and topics for Fall 2022 are below.

Session 1: Student Sense of Belonging

Monday, Oct. 31, 10:00 - 11:30 am

  • The importance of student sense of belonging to their retention and persistence 
  • How to define sense of belonging and identify its components
  • What we can do to enhance student "belongingness"

Session 2: Faculty and Staff Well-Being

Monday, Nov. 28, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

  • Why faculty and staff burnout has been exacerbated by the pandemic
  • How to build a supportive work environment
  • What leaders should do to boost morale and help faculty and staff perform at their best

Session 3: Faculty Involvement in Student Success

Monday, Dec. 5, 10:00 - 11:30 am

  • Why are faculty essential to student success
  • How to empower faculty through data
  • Best practices to involve faculty in student success initiatives
