Thank UNLV’s Chief Information Security Officer for MFA at Pie on Pida Event March 21

Vito Rocco, chief information security officer from UNLV Information Technology, is participating in Rebels Give Pie on Pida at 11:10 a.m. on March 21 on Pida Plaza.

Since a lot of students, faculty, and staff currently use SMS text messaging for multifactor authentication (MFA), Rocco’s taking this opportunity to ask them to switch to Okta Verify for a more secure, reliable MFA experience. Pies can be thrown at Rocco for donations to UNLV IT to support the technology loan program.

Kivanc Oner, vice president for digital transformation and chief information officer, is also participating in Pie on Pida. This is the campus community’s chance to thank Oner for MFA, too, by throwing pies at him during the same time as Rocco’s appearance.

View the Pie on Pida article for more information about UNLV IT’s participation in the Rebels Give event. Those who are unable to attend Pie on Pida can make a gift online to support the technology loan program at rebelsgive.unlv.edu.
