Office of Sponsored Programs to Release Grants Management System "Cayuse SP"

UNLV Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is excited to announce the upcoming release of Cayuse Sponsored Projects (SP). Cayuse is UNLV’s cloud-based software solution for research administration. Cayuse SP will serve as the university-wide grants management pre-award and post-award system. Cayuse SP will allow for a more streamlined and efficient connection between systems.

Cayuse includes many improvements such as;

  • electronic proposal submission
  • centralized dashboards
  • streamlined routing
  • simplified electronic approvals
  • improved track changes

Cayuse SP Go Live

OSP Cayuse SP will be available to the campus community during training beginning May 13, 2024. The “Go Live” date will be July 1, 2024, when all new submissions and award acceptance begin using the Cayuse SP system. *Please note active, closed proposals will not be migrated.

Cayuse SP Training

OSP is offering Cayuse SP trainings via Zoom and in-person by College and general training dates. Select the one(s) that fit your availability. Register for more than one if you like. Register Today

OSP has developed an online training module. The course is an introduction to Cayuse SP and offers users an understanding of the various elements and functionality within Cayuse SP as well as information regarding proposal development, review, and approval. OSP Cayuse SP Deployment and Implementation Timeline

  • February 29: Data loaded ready for production.
  • March 1: Production site is live (not posted on website, at training users will be given link).  
  • March 4-8: Ann and Michele trainers for soft testing and finalize the training for the pilot teams (internal link will be provided to them for that environment).

    • College of Education
    • College of Liberal Arts 
  • March 11-15: No training – CCSD spring breaks. Emails will be sent to Deans and Colleges to set up training for May. 
  • March 18-29: Soft go live, hands on training will be for offered to the selected colleges only at this time:
    • College of Engineering
    • College of Education, and
    • College of Liberal Arts. 
  • March 29-April 29: Testing with soft go live Colleges (CoEd, CoEng, CoLA), feedback, changes, edits. 
  • April 1-April 29: Weekly check ins from OSP and testing Colleges. 
  • April 29-May 3: Final suggestions, changes from training group and adjustments made. 
  • May 6-10: Final edits in production released. 
  • May 13: Training for all Colleges begins. 
  • May - June 30: Training continued.
  • July 1: All users - Cayuse OSP implemented fully for Pre-Award Proposals and Post Award acceptance (no financial data in Cayuse – that’s Workday).
