Beam Hall Fire Alarm Testing Set for Friday Morning

UNLV Facilities Management, UNLV Risk Management & Safety, and a contractor will be testing the fire alarm system in Beam Hall (BEH) from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9. The testing is to comply with the state fire code.

Per the State Fire Marshal, renovation projects that involve fire alarm systems must include testing of audible alarms to contractually complete the projects. That requires us to complete a comprehensive fire system alarm test for BEH. Audible horns and visible flashing strobe lights may be activated for short periods of time during the testing.

Out of an abundance of caution, we encourage anyone with access to Beam Hall to refrain from visiting the building during this time.

We understand that the sights and sounds emanating from fire alarms can cause anxiety and emotional reactions considering the tragedy of Dec. 6 and other crisis events. Please ask for help if needed by visiting the UNLV Strong website and learning about the mental health and counseling resources we have available at UNLV.

If you have questions regarding this fire alarm test, please contact Mike Lawrence, associate vice president of Administrative Services.
