A private arena being built on the Strip is soaking up the media attention but UNLV is quietly remodeling Thomas &Mack Center and launching a naming rights initiative for the three-building sports complex of Thomas &Mack, Cox Pavilion and Mendenhall Center.

The last time a piece of Canadian sporting culture was exported to Las Vegas, it did not go so well. The Las Vegas Posse played one year in the Canadian Football League. They averaged around 9,000 fans per game in 1994, the second-last home game drew 2,350 souls and the last home game was relocated to Edmonton after the Posse announced plans to fold.
