Notable: Christina Demopoulos, Melissa Argueta and Elyana Smith

Dr. Christina Demopoulos, Melissa Argueta and Elyana Smith (all Dental) hosted information tables during five back-to-school community events between July 23 and August 21. The events, sponsored by several organizations including City of Las Vegas and UNR Extension, were held at the Windmill Library, Iglesia Evangelica Nueva Jerusalem Church, The LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada, Strong Future Technology Center, and East Las Vegas Library. Rising fourth-year dental students Diane Feng, Brakkon Garrett, Jeffrey McPherson, and  Miguel Padilla also participated.

The faculty members and students offered oral health education, oral hygiene instruction, and information about the dental school’s available services. More than 500 adults and nearly 700 children stopped by the school’s table during these events and received toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss. The children also took home coloring books with crayons, and watched demonstrations about proper brushing on a large plastic model of the mouth.
