To be eligible for the Bhatnagar Outstanding Creative Writing Award a student must meet the following criteria:
- Student must be either a MFA or PhD student, graduating in August, December, or May of current academic year in the Creative Writing Program;
- Student must have a minimum 3.5 GPA; and,
- Student must have earned at least 50 percent of their credits at UNLV.
Award Selection done by faculty:
The Creative Writing faculty may nominate their choice for outstanding graduating senior from either the MFA or PhD Creative Writing programs. The nomination must include an unofficial transcript, a list of other awards or recognitions, and one writing sample. The English Department Scholarship Committee will evaluate the materials and select the recipient at least two months prior to commencement. There will be no tie between winners.
*Unless otherwise noted, all students who fill out a FAFSA or alternate need form and meet the criteria for the scholarship will be considered. No other application is needed.
*Selected award winner’s name is due to the College of Liberal Arts Dean’s office by December 1st.
