Higher education institutions like UNLV are permitted under current IRS rules to offer 403(b) or Tax-Sheltered Annuity Plans. The university offers two types of plans under the 403(b) or Tax-Sheltered Annuity Plan – a pre-tax plan and an after-tax or Roth option. Contributions are taken from employee’s paychecks and sent directly to NSHE’s record keeper, TIAA.

To participate in this plan:

  • Navigate to the Workday home page and click on the Benefits worklet.
  • Click on Retirement Savings under the Change column to edit your voluntary retirement benefits.
  • Additionally, you must also open your account online with TIAA and choose your investments.

If you are already participating in the plan and wish to change your deferral amount you can change your deferral amount though Workday.
