Pre-Nursing is the preliminary step to becoming a Nursing student at UNLV. It is not a degree.

To be considered for the full Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program you will need to be an admitted student at UNLV as a PRE Nursing major. Once you’ve completed all the course requirements and the HESI A2 entry exam as a Pre-Nursing major you will be able to apply for the full program.

Students are admitted into Pre-Nursing at any semester without a waiting list. Students are admitted from Pre-Nursing into the 16-Month Traditional Nursing Track three times per year (spring, summer, and fall) when they meet eligibility requirements. We accept 72 students three times a year.

Completion of prerequisites with the required grades, 3.00 GPA and 75% or higher on the HESI A2 exam. Must sign up for a BSN signing Session to apply to the full BSN degree.

No, the TEAS exam is not equivalent to the HESI A2 Exam, and UNLV SON only accepts the HESI A2 exam for admittance into the BSN program.

No, UNLV does not offer an RN to BSN bridge program.

No, a CNA is not required for application to the BSN Program at UNLV.

The BSN Program is 16-months long. Electives may be required in order to fulfill the 122-credit requirement prior to graduation.
