Questions

Meet with your academic advisor regularly to know what forms you may need at any given time. Your advisor will assist in getting the proper signatures or refer you to the proper department depending on the form that needs to be signed.

Some courses require instructor or department consent in order to enroll. This consent must be obtained and entered into the MyUNLV system prior to enrollment. Contact the appropriate authority (instructor or department) in order to obtain the permission.

A degree worksheet is a tool used to help track the courses you need to graduate. It is a sheet of paper with all of the required courses for your degree listed on it. Every time you meet with an academic advisor, they will update your degree worksheet with the courses you’ve already completed and the courses you have left to take. Students may also use this tool to help choose courses and plan semesters on their own.

Advisors help undergraduate students with retention, progression and completion of their degree. (RPC) They guide students on what courses to take each semester and provide additional support and referrals to resources available on campus for our students.

To schedule an academic advising appointment you must be an admitted student at UNLV so we may know what degree you are requesting and have any transfer courses accepted by UNLV Admissions. All official transcripts must be on your MyUNLV.

Prospective students may contact our office during Open Advising Hours to speak with an advisor if they have additional questions about DHS programs; however, we do not conduct transfer credit reviews until you are an admitted student.
