Connect with Your Advisor

Connect with Your Advisor drop down would be populated with the following information: Don’t wait until you arrive to establish contact. Your advisor will be one of the most important and long-standing relationships of your career.

  • Contact your mentor and students in your program about the ins and outs of housing in Las Vegas (e.g., renting, purchasing, on- and off-campus options, etc.).
  • General Information on Student Housing
  • The "Upper Class Complex" dorm on campus is designated for graduate & professional students. You can find out more about floor plan options and costs.

  • Important buildings located on campus include:

  • Vaccinations are required for enrollment
    • Be sure you are current in any required vaccinations. The link above will show you where to send your records.
  • International Students should contact the International Student and Scholar Services. This office assists with employment applications and eligibility verification, visa and travel issues, immigration advising and documents.
  • RebelCard
    • Your RebelCard serves as your on-campus identification, your library card, and in some cases as a key card (for example if you have a Graduate Assistantship in the Student Union).
    • Getting your RebelCard is free. The Rebel Card office is located on the first floor of the Student Union Room 118. Bring a photo ID.
    • Once you have your RebelCard, take it to the front desk of the Lied Library for activation.
    • You can load your card with money at kiosks at the Student Unionand the Lied Library and use it at any on-campus businesses (e.g. the food court, the book store, etc.) as cash.
  • Register for classes using MyUNLV:
    • Your NSHE # is your login ID
    • If you are a graduate assistant, 6 credits is considered full time
    • If you are not a graduate assistant, 9 credits is considered full time
  • Parking Permit
    • If you plan to drive to campus, you will need a parking permit. These can be purchased by the semester, the academic year, or the calendar year. If you park on campus without the appropriate permit, you will get a ticket.
    • Parking is enforced 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7 a.m.-1p.m. Friday during the calendar school year. During the summer months parking enforcement hours are from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday. Parking is not enforced on the weekends.
  • Stay hydrated! Depending on where you lived prior to Las Vegas, you may notice that this area is incredibly dry, and in the summer is hot! Therefore, it is very important to drink plenty of water and use moisturizers (with sunscreen) to stay hydrated and healthy. There are many Hydration Stations across campus that provide access to filtered water so that you can refill your reusable water bottles at no cost.
