Considering a degree in healthcare administration or public health? Join our information session today to learn about these programs and find out more about what we offer! We will discuss the benefits of graduate study in the UNLV School of Public Health, as well as the differences between the Master of Healthcare Administration and the Master of Public Health.
During this session, you'll receive an overview of the program curriculum, admissions requirements, and the application process.
Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA): The only CAHME accredited graduate healthcare administration program in the Nevada System of Higher Education, the MHA prepares students for leadership roles in healthcare organizations, covering healthcare delivery, finance, and the ethical and legal issues administrators face on the job. A dual degree option is also available: MBA-MHA
Master of Public Health (MPH): The MPH advances the science and art of protecting and improving population health through the identification and prevention of disease and injury, with five concentrations to choose from:
- Environmental and Global Health (EGH)
- Epidemiology & Biostatistics (EAB)
- Social & Behavioral Health (SBH)
- Healthcare Administration & Policy (HCA)
- Generalist – fully online (GEN)
Through a competency-based curriculum, students in both programs actively apply classroom knowledge while building the analytical thinking, leadership, and professional skills needed for successful careers in public health and healthcare management. Each program includes a required internship — 200 hours for MPH students, 250 hours for MHA students — and the GRE is optional for both. For their culminating experience, MPH students choose between a professional paper or a written thesis, while MHA students choose between a professional paper or a capstone.
