Tournaments

TheUNLV Debate Team hosts three tournaments annually: a high school debate tournament, a college policy debate tournament, and a middle school debate tournament. For more information on these tournaments, please see the information below or email jacob.thompson@unlv.edu.

High School Tournament

The Golden Desert High School Debate Tournament will be hosted on the UNLV campus February 1-3, 2020. This tournament is one of the biggest and best high school debate tournaments on the West Coast. We host novice and varsity divisions of Policy and Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and varsity-only divisions of Public Forum and Congressional Debate. The Golden Desert tournament is a Quarters bid to the TOC in Policy and Gold Public Forum, a Semis bid in Lincoln-Douglas, an Octos bid in Silver Public Forum, and we have submitted an application to receive a TOC bid in Congressional debate.

Middle School Debate Tournament

The UNLV Debate Team hosts an annual Middle School Invitational Debate Tournament on the UNLV campus. The tournament is typically hosted in April on a Saturday that is most convenient for local middle school debate programs. This is a debate-only tournament for local 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. It features compeitition in two different debate formats: Public Forum and Congressional debate.
