How to Use the Booth
To access the booth, type in your UNLV email and follow the prompts on the screen. Please note that the booth uses bright lights during the photo process, which may be uncomfortable for individuals sensitive to light.
You will have an opportunity to review and retake photos if you are not satisfied with the results, and editing tools are also available. Once you’ve selected your favorite photo and edits have been processed, the final image will be emailed to you. For questions or assistance, please contact careerlifedesign@unlv.edu.
Photo Tips
Before Your Photo Session
- Dress the Part: Wear professional clothing that fits the purpose of your headshot (busines casual, suit, etc.). Solid colors generally work best. Avoid white, as it can blend in with the background.
- Groom Yourself: Ensure your hair is styled and neat. Bring a comb or brush for touch-ups. If you wear makeup, consider a look that is natural and professional.
- Prepare Your Posture: Think about how you’d like to pose. Tips often include:
- Keep your chin slightly down to define your jawline.
- Avoiding arms straight at your sides. Try crossing them or placing your hands on your hips to project confidence.
- Slightly turning to one side and dropping the shoulder closest to the camera.
During The Session
- Follow the On-Screen Prompts: The booth is designed to be self-service. You will be guided through the entire process with clear instructions and posing tips displayed on the screen.
- Take Your Photos: The booth will take a set number of photos (often three) to give you options.
- Review and Retake: You will have the opportunity to review the photos you’ve taken. Most systems allow you to retake at least one of the photos if you are not satisfied with the results.
- Edit Your Photos: The Iris Booth may provide a set of simple, AI-powered editing tools on the screen. These can include features like blemish removal, skin softening, and teeth whitening to give your headshot a polished look.
- Finalize and Send: Once you’ve selected your favorite photo and made edits, you will confirm the session. The final, retouched images are then processed and delivered instantly to the email you provided at the beginning.
