About

A coordinated community response team is a collaborative group of community partners with diverse multidisciplinary frameworks brought together to develop a shared vision to collectively address the widespread impact of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DVSAS) and provide multiple pathways for accessibility, support, healing, and accountability for vulnerable communities who are at risk of gender-based violence.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is a recipient of a campus grant administered by the Office of Violence Against Women (OVW), a federal government office housed within the Department of Justice (DOJ). This grant is meant to help colleges and universities develop and establish effective, comprehensive prevention and response efforts to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DVSAS).

The Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is called the Violence Prevention and Response Team (VPRT).

Mission Statement

We are an interdisciplinary team of campus and community partners who are dedicated to having a safe, violence-free campus. Our purpose is to lead a collective effort to prevent and address power-based violence by creating a campus culture of respect, safety, and accountability for the unique UNLV community.

Through prevention, training, and providing an effective, compassionate response, we empower our campus community and create a safe learning environment that promotes overall student success.

What We Will Accomplish

The goals to be accomplished during our grant lifecycle are listed in our project’s strategic plan. The strategic plan is broken down into three stages that are a year long in nature.

Those stages include:

  1. Planning
  2. Implementation
  3. Revising and Sustaining

Our Members

Our VPRT uses a collaborative structure that establishes a helpful representation of the organization and the team's power dynamics. All of our members hold institutional power and influence in different ways, but the team is unique in structure as it brings together leaders with multidisciplinary backgrounds from all across the campus and community. View the full list of departments and organizations that make up the VPRT team.

This team consists of VPRT leadership, as well as representatives from four core working groups known as subcommittees. These subcommittees include Comprehensive Prevention, Student Conduct, Law Enforcement, and Victim Services. The subcommittees communicate regularly and meet once a month or quarterly. The VPRT includes internal and external partners, including victim service agencies, campus and community law enforcement, student life organizations, and some additional UNLV members.

Get Involved

There are different involvement opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. If you have any questions about the VPRT, please email tiffany.frazier@unlv.edu or christina.hall1@unlv.edu.

Students

We highly value student participation and feedback as part of the VPRT. The contributions of students can help us tailor prevention and education programming to the needs and experiences of students and can help us to improve services and resources for those impacted by power-based violence.

If you are interested in being a part of the VPRT, please fill out the Student Participation survey.

Faculty and Staff

We encourage faculty and staff participation in the VPRT from a wide variety of areas. This enables us to ensure that concerns from all campus departments and colleges are heard. If you are interested in joining the work of the VPRT, please fill out the following survey: Faculty/Staff Participation Survey.
