Full Speed Ahead

Campus Environment

With some 31,000 students and 4,000 full-time employees — and always growing! — UNLV is a small city unto itself. We draw upon our Campus Master Plan to make sure that our town is designed for sustainable growth while meeting the needs of students, researchers, and our wider community. And while our Maryland Parkway campus is still our core, our footprint is expanding across the Valley.

Updated signage in front of the CBC.

Navigating a university as large and complex as UNLV can be challenging. Over the summer, the Planning and Construction team overhauled wayfinding signage to help visitors find their way around our 350-acre main campus. Gone is the mishmash of kiosks and building markers and in their place are cohesively designed and easily updatable signs.

Kicked off by a $10 million gift from an anonymous donor, UNLV launched a fundraising effort to expand the UNLV/CSUN Preschool at the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center. The expansion will double the preschool’s capacity, helping student-parents, staff, and the surrounding community access affordable childcare.

Kirk Kerkorian Medical Education Building Grand Opening

The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine moved into its new five-story home in the heart of the city’s medical district, thanks to the nonprofit Nevada Health & Bioscience Corp. The facility, which will help the school double its class size, is now home to 250 medical students, 150 faculty physicians, and more than 335 medical residents and fellows. But the real impact is advancing the school’s mission to transform healthcare in our community.

Southern Nevada’s first Patent and Trademark Resource Center is now housed at Lied Library thanks to a partnership with UNLV’s Wiener-Rogers Law Library and technology company Switch. The center will provide workshops and one-on-one training and bring together UNLV experts and entrepreneurs to foster a culture of creativity and intellectual property protection. It's another example of how UNLV and its Top Tier goals are supporting the socio-economic development of our region.

Smoke free & vape free banners around campus.

UNLV is officially tobacco-free and prohibits all forms of smoking, tobacco use, and unregulated nicotine products. This step demonstrates UNLV’s commitment to a healthier and more sustainable environment while reducing exposure to secondhand smoke.
