Chief fundraising officer takes on new role in UNLV president's office.

Heather Torgersen, senior executive director of external affairs, has accepted an appointment as interim senior advisor for philanthropy and donor relations in the UNLV president’s office, effective April 1.

Heather has served for 10 years in the College of Liberal Arts as chief fundraising officer, consistently ranking as the top fundraiser on campus. During that time, she has raised $5 million annually for scholarships, programs, faculty research, summer stipends, and more. Her work expanded to include securing key campus and community partnerships, monitoring critical bills in the Nevada Legislature, working with faculty and the grants team to garner external funding, and shepherding resources to transformative programs, including the Neon Pacific Initiative and the proposed Psy.D. program. Some of her most impactful work can be seen in the mental and behavioral health space as evidenced by the growth of UNLV PRACTICE into an official institute.

Congratulations, Heather, and best wishes in this important, new endeavor. We are grateful for your decade of unmatched productivity and dedicated service to the College of Liberal Arts.
