Facts and Stats

Since our first classes were held on campus in 1957, UNLV has transformed itself from a small branch college into a thriving urban research institution. Along the way, our urban university has become an indispensable resource in one of the country's fastest-growing and most enterprising cities.

Admission Requirements for First-Year Students

We accept both the Common Application and our UNLV Application for incoming first-year students only. No preference is given to either the UNLV Application or the Common Application – we recommend students choose the most convenient application. UNLV is test-optional, but test scores are encouraged for UNLV course placement. Request to have your scores sent to UNLV from ACT or College Board when you register for the test. Learn more about first-year admission requirements.

Merit-Based Scholarships

UNLV offers a variety of scholarship programs for both Nevada residents and non-residents. For scholarship consideration, our priority deadline is Nov. 15, 2022. Students must complete the FAFSA or Alternate Need Form, and be admitted to UNLV by this date for priority consideration. There is no separate application for students to be considered. Learn more about scholarship programs that are available for the 2022-2023 school year.
