The Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences, housed within the School of Integrated Health Sciences, provides a high-quality educational experience for undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of kinesiology, nutrition sciences, and athletic training. Students receive rigorous classroom instruction aided by computer and multimedia instruction and practical laboratory and clinical experiences. Our goal is to turn students into professionals who are capable of critical thinking, devoted to a lifetime of learning, committed to the ethical standards of their profession, and highly sought after by employers.
Chair’s Welcome
Welcome to the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences. Our mission is to advance health and human performance by providing high-quality education, engaging students in meaningful experiential learning, and conducting research that informs practice and improves lives in the communities we serve.
At the undergraduate level, we offer majors and minors in kinesiology and nutrition sciences, giving students strong foundations in areas such as exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor behavior, and nutrition across the lifespan. Guided by dedicated faculty who are active scholars and committed mentors, our programs integrate classroom learning with hands-on experiences in laboratory, clinical, and community settings.
We also offer master’s degrees in kinesiology, athletic training, and nutrition sciences, preparing graduates for advanced professional practice, leadership, and research-intensive careers. In addition, our faculty members mentor Ph.D. students in interdisciplinary doctoral programs, contributing expertise in physical activity, biomechanics, and nutrition to address complex questions about health and human performance.
Whether your interests lie in understanding how the body moves, optimizing sport and human performance, advancing clinical and community health, or improving nutrition and wellbeing, you will find opportunities here to learn, collaborate, and grow.
An education in kinesiology or nutrition sciences is a powerful step toward shaping a healthier future—locally, nationally, and globally. If you are ready to contribute to that future, I invite you to explore our programs and consider joining us.
