How do I apply for a classified position with UNLV?

Go to the current job openings section of our site and click classified to view and apply for classified positions. If you need help, visit the how to apply section of our website.

I don't have a computer. May I mail my resume to you?

All classified positions must be applied for through the UNLV online application system. There are links at the bottom of every classified job announcement that direct you to the applicant portal where you are to apply. The UNLV Employment Services Office has computers available for job application purposes. Our office is located in the Campus Services Building on the UNLV Campus, Room 237. Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Your local library may also have computers available for public use. If you are unable to apply online, please contact our Employment Services Office at 702-895-3504.

Do I have to attach a cover letter and resume?

If a job announcement requires you to attach a cover letter and resume, you must attach these documents to be considered for the position. If you do not attach the required documents, your application will not be reviewed. Please be sure to read the job announcement carefully as some job announcements may require reference documents as well.

What is a noncontinual/continual recruitment?

Noncontinual recruitments have an application deadline. Continual recruitments are recruitments that have no deadline date and for which we are always accepting applications. When a position for a continual recruitment becomes available, the employment department reviews applications at that time. If the department recruiting for the position is interested in interviewing you, they will contact you directly.

When will my application be reviewed?

All non-continual recruitments have an application deadline. The hiring department does not begin reviewing applications until after the deadline date.

Who can I call to check on the status of my application?

Job postings typically include the name of a search chair from the hiring department. The review of application materials is conducted by the department with the job opening. For general questions regarding your application, call the UNLV Human Resources Recruitment Line at 702-895-3504 or email us at applicant.inquiry@unlv.edu. A recruitment representative will respond to your inquiry in a timely manner.

How long do classified recruitments take before an individual is hired?

Recruitments can vary in length from several weeks to months. Several factors determine the length of a recruitment. How long the recruitment is posted, the number of applicants, the number of individuals who need to review application materials, and testing requirements are several of the factors.

Do I have to go through the entire profile process again if I want to apply for multiple vacancies?

No. Once you complete your online profile through Consensus (the UNLV application program), this information is saved and does not need to be completed again. You will need your log-in information to access your profile. If there are multiple positions for which you would like to apply, just click the apply button in the job announcement on the UNLV website and login to your profile to apply.

NOTE: You must attach any required documents each time you apply for a new job. These documents must be attached to your application for each position.

What if I forgot my UNLV/ Consensus log-in information?

If you forget your login information after creating a profile in the system, call the UNLV Human Resources Recruitment Line at 702-895-3504 or email us at applicant.inquiry@unlv.edu and ask for a recruitment representative for assistance or a password reset.
