Description

The UNLV Wind Orchestra will conclude the 2025-26 UNLV Division of Wind Band Studies Concert Series with a powerful and forward-looking program titled The Pursuit of Happiness.

The concert centers on The Pursuit of Happiness by composer Jim Colonna, a large-scale contemporary work for wind band that has garnered significant attention for its emotional depth, bold orchestration, and compelling narrative arc. The piece represents an important contribution to the modern wind band repertoire and serves as a fitting centerpiece for the ensemble’s season finale.

Also featured on the program is the world premiere of Country Dancers by Robert Debbaut, continuing UNLV’s commitment to the creation and performance of new music. Together, these works highlight the evolving artistic voice of the wind band medium and underscore the ensemble’s dedication to innovation and excellence.

Under the direction of Thomas G. Leslie, the UNLV Wind Orchestra brings together faculty leadership and student artistry in a performance that reflects both scholarly rigor and expressive vitality. The concert offers audiences an opportunity to engage with significant contemporary repertoire while celebrating the culmination of a dynamic concert season.
