The UNLV Wind Orchestra proudly continues the 2025–2026 UNLV Division of Wind Band Studies Concert Series with Kealaikahiki – The Path to Tahiti, an evening featuring world premiere transcriptions, exceptional guest artists, and a celebration of cultural and musical journeys.

Under the direction of Thomas G. Leslie, the program includes the world premiere of Kealaikahiki by Michael-Thomas Foumai, presented in a new transcription specially created for this performance by newly appointed UNLV faculty member Ocean Akaka. The concert also features world premiere transcriptions of works by Kalinnikov, as well as the highly anticipated premiere of Caribbean Winds by composer Giancarlo D’Addona.

Taking the stage alongside the ensemble are international guest artists José Sibaja and Domingo Pagluica, with distinguished guest conductors John R. Bourgeois and Linda Moorhouse contributing their artistry to this landmark performance. This concert offers audiences a rare opportunity to witness new works brought to life by one of the nation’s premier collegiate wind orchestras, joined by globally recognized performers and conductors.
