UNLV’s premier Jazz Ensemble 1 (directors Dave Loeb and Nathan Tanouye) performs selections from its newest CD, Dreamlike, with pieces written and arranged by UNLV music faculty, current students, and alumni including the titular piece "Dreamlike" by Ricardo Arana and "Band-Aid" by Nathan Tanouye. The concert features special guest vocalists Laura Taylor and Don Cunningham and trombonist Isrea Butler, the new director of the UNLV School of Music. The ensembled tied for first place in the Graduate College Large Ensemble category in the 2023 Downbeat Magazine Student Music Awards and its previous CD received Grammy consideration.
