Structural Violence in the Industrial Era United States

Abstract: This talk will explore the biological impact of structural violence on those who were marginalized in the United States during the Industrial Era. This will include a bioarchaeological analysis of populations from two locations: Rome, New York and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Evidence of non-specific indicators of physiological stress, dental disease, and trauma were collected and analyzed to assess whether location, social status, or sex had an impact on risk for physiological stress.
