Join us on March 28, 2024, as we celebrate UNLV's First-Generation students. Author Alejandra Campoverdi will sign her book First-Gen: A Memoir* at 1 p.m., followed by the readings of the winning essays written by UNLV first-generation students at 2 p.m.

The First-Generation Essay Competition is part of an annual campus-wide First-Generation Celebration held in November. The contest allows first-generation undergraduate and graduate students to share personal stories about their first-generation journeys at UNLV.

Over 20 students participated in this year's contest, and three winners were selected from both the undergraduate and graduate categories. We're thrilled to share their winning entries with the UNLV community as part of MSI Week.
