Description
This Master of Music composition recital will feature original musical works composed by Mason Weillie that were written for various ensemble groups ranging from solo saxophone to duets featuring piano, saxophone, and oboe, to larger chamber ensembles featuring strings, woodwinds, percussion, and piano. Many of these compositions were inspired by the likes of other well-known composers and music pioneers such as Franz Wilhelm Ferling, Arnold Schoenberg, Sergei Rachmaninoff, et al.
Mason is a master of music student who has had an aspiring interest in studying music composition for almost ten years. Before and after coming to UNLV to continue his journey, he has been studying mainly classical music, but has also dabbled in studying contemporary music as well. This exciting performance showcases how much knowledge of these types of music genres Mason has learned about in his studies at UNLV between 2023 and present day, and how his compositions were inspired by other composers throughout music history.
