Description

For several decades, the UNLV Department of Anthropology has organized a Proseminar Speaker Series. This series has provided a space for intellectual engagement across the sub-fields of anthropology. Our department’s broad range of interests is reflected in the makeup of our faculty and graduate students whose research covers the general fields of biological anthropology, archaeology, and cultural anthropology as well as medical anthropology, bioarchaeology, forensic anthropology, cognitive anthropology, and historical anthropology. In an effort to address this array of research interests, the Proseminar Speaker Series curates presentations from leading and emergent scholars whose past, present, and future research illustrates where the discipline has been, where it is today, and where it might be going in the future.

For our next installment, we will be joined by Derek Boyd (University of Tennessee, Chattanooga). His presentation is titled "Manufactured Bodies: Respiratory Health in Industrial-Era England."
