Alt Spring Break Trip - LGBTQ+ Activism and Rights/San Francisco (Apply by 9 a.m. on Feb. 26)

Alt Breaks LGBTQ+ Activism and Rights trip


Explore the local history and learn about current community projects and advocacy efforts within the greater San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (and more) community. Community engagement activities may include LGBTQ+ programming support for a local community center, food and resource kit assembly, and historical document exploration and sorting at one of the largest repositories of LGBT materials in the world.


$50 mandatory deposit + $75 trip fee = $125 total in fees*

*Students can apply for travel grants to help cover a portion of the $125 trip fee within the main application.

This trip was originally planned to be flight-based, but has now been updated to a driving trip. Participants will meet on campus at UNLV and be driven as a group to the destination; no flight tickets required.

Admission Information

All students interested in attending an Alternative Break Trip must first submit an application and mandatory $50 deposit.

Application deadline extended to 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 26.

To apply, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign into your WebTrac account
    1. a) If you need to create a new WebTrac account, enter your student email address and the word "password" (all lowercase) as your password on the sign in page. This will prompt the system to create a new account for you. Then, check your student email for a verification email, follow the instructions, and finish registering your new account.

      b) If you are having trouble getting access to WebTrac, first try calling Outdoor Adventures at 702-774-7130. If this does not work, please contact Zak Kucherka, Program Coordinator for Outdoor Adventures, at 702-774-7131 or

      c) If you are still experiencing trouble with the application, please email outlining which trip you were trying to apply for so that we have documentation of your interest before the application deadline.
  2. Once you are logged into WebTrac, use the below instructions to find our application page to select your desired trip and follow the application prompts provided:
    1. Select "Search" on the navigation menu, then select "Activity Search"
    2. Clear the selection in the search box at the top left portion of the page
    3. Select "Service Learning and Leadership" and search
    4. Select "LGBTQ+ Rights/San Francisco Application & Deposit" to add to cart
    5. Complete the questions and check box for agreement to waiver terms
    6. Finish application by paying the $50 deposit
