An academic job talk is a presentation that candidates give as part of the interview process for faculty positions at universities and research institutions. In this workshop from the Academic Job Search Demystified series, students will learn how to prepare and deliver a job talk that effectively communicates their academic expertise, engages the audience, and leaves a lasting impression on hiring committees. Students will learn key elements of a job talk, how to translate their research, teaching, other academic activities, and contribution to their field for a hiring audience.
By participating in this workshop you will:
- Learn how to structure and deliver an engaging job talk for academic positions.
- Gain strategies for confidently responding to questions from the hiring committees.
