Special Events

We partner with various UNLV units to foster the growth of our faculty members and further the goals of our university. This includes partnering for special events, such as:

  • New Faculty Orientation: New Faculty Orientation is an annual event held every August that welcomes and onboards full-time faculty to UNLV.
  • The Part-Time Instructors' Reception and Resource Fair: The reception and virtual resource fair are annual events that welcome part-time instructors to campus in the fall, around the same time as the New Faculty Orientation. Instructors can get resources from some of our campus partners across UNLV at the virtual resource fair and meet peers at the reception.
  • MSI Week: Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) Week is a dedicated week of student activities, events, and educational programs aimed at promoting innovative approaches to equity and inclusion in the classroom, fostering a passion for learning, and creating a sense of belonging.
  • Best (and worst) Teaching Practices Expo: This is a yearly event that highlights both the best of UNLV’s evidence-based teaching practices and, in the spirit of growth and reflection, the teaching strategies that didn’t go as planned–along with the valuable lessons learned. You may read previous years’ posters from faculty who shared their research-based ideas for improving teaching across UNLV. Each poster describes a teaching practice that addresses a particular need to improve teaching; benefits UNLV students in particular; and applies in various teaching contexts. This year's Expo will be held on April 30. Registration coming soon.
